In partnership with the Al Ritchie Heritage Community Health Center, we host an indoor walking group for seniors at the Mitakuyé Owâs’ā Centre. Our walking group starts at 10 AM and runs for 30 minutes, followed by a 45-minute chair exercise class. You are welcome to come for one or the other or stay for both!
Walking is an excellent low-impact activity that offers numerous health benefits for seniors. It helps improve cardiovascular health, strengthens muscles, enhances balance, and boosts mental well-being. Chair exercises complement this by focusing on mobility and strength without added impact, making it accessible and effective for seniors at all fitness levels. Beyond the physical benefits, both activities foster social connection, reduce isolation, and create a welcoming sense of community.
This is a no cost program and everyone is welcome to attend!
