Every 4th Tuesday of each month from September through June, we are proud to host a Seniors Luncheon/Potluck in partnership with the Al Ritchie Heritage Community Health Center. This beloved monthly tradition welcomes 40 to 60 seniors from the Heritage neighborhood—individuals from all walks of life who come together to share in the joy of social connection, which is so vital for our health and well-being as we age.

Our luncheons are more than just a meal; they are an opportunity to foster a sense of community and belonging. While the dedicated staff from the Heritage Community Association and the Health Center prepare the main portion of the meal, we invite our guests to contribute to the potluck in any way they feel comfortable. Contributions can range from a simple ziplock bag of pickles, a refreshing coleslaw or bean salad, to a sweet dessert like cookies or cake. Whether it’s a little or a lot, every contribution is appreciated and enjoyed by all.

The main dish varies each month, adding a touch of excitement and anticipation to every luncheon. Our seniors have enjoyed a wide array of delicious meals, from salmon and rice to pasta with flavorful sauces, hearty perogies, savory ham, and many other delightful combinations.

But the experience doesn’t end with the meal. Our luncheons are often enriched by engaging guest speakers who provide valuable insights on important topics relevant to seniors’ lives, from health and wellness to community resources. We also make a special effort to add a festive touch during holidays like Halloween, Easter, and Christmas, with decorations and extra fun to brighten the day.

This monthly gathering isn’t just about food—it’s about connection, learning, and celebration. It’s a chance to come together, share stories, and create lasting memories in a warm and welcoming environment. Whether it’s your first time or you’ve been attending for years, there’s always a place at the table for you at our Seniors Luncheon.

We also encourage sustainability by inviting our guests to bring their own cutlery and plates to the luncheon. This simple yet impactful practice helps reduce waste and prevents unnecessary items from ending up in the landfill. Moreover, when more of our guests embrace this initiative, it allows us to allocate the limited funds of both organizations toward enhancing the luncheons rather than purchasing single-use products. Together, we can enjoy a wonderful meal while making a positive difference for our environment and community resources.

If you reside in the Heritage neighborhood and would like to join us, we encourage registration to help us plan and ensure we have enough servings for everyone. For more information or to register, please call 306-757-9952. We look forward to welcoming you!
