Opened in 2021, the community gardens (located at 1654 11th Ave, beside the old No. 1 Firehall) consist primarily of raised garden beds that are planted seasonally, as well as a few permanent fruit-bearing trees. The gardens are a mutual aid effort where everyone is welcome to prepare, plant, tend to and harvest these garden beds. In addition to providing nutritious, locally grown produce to Heritage residents, the gardens provide a safe space to build connections and strengthen the culture of mutual care in our community.

Programming & Updates
Since their grand opening in 2021, we have hosted an annual Garden Tour for funders and the broader community to get a glimpse into the value these gardens add to our community. In 2022, this tour was featured as part of Regina Horticultural Society’s Walk & Gawk tour — drawing in a large crowd to Heritage! This year’s tour will be held on Monday, July 17 2023 from 1:30 – 3:00 PM.
In 2022, we expanded our gardens with the addition of 8 new beds in the original location. We also partnered with Thomson Community School to install 8 beds on location for their students, and with Regina Housing Authority to install 6 beds on location for residents at Embury Heights.
We also offer ‘Grow Kits’ for residents to start their own garden, as well as a new seed sharing program: ‘Community Seeds‘.
