Art Park, located at the corner of 11th Avenue and Halifax Street, has a remarkable story of transformation, community effort, and green innovation. Originally envisioned in 1997 as an “inner city oasis,” the park fell into disrepair over time. But in 2022, thanks to the Every Bite Affects the World Local Action award, we began breathing new life into this space.

Led by Master Gardener Phil Johnson and supported by Nature Regina, Wild Outside, and dedicated staff and volunteers, the park is on its way to becoming an “Urban Food Forest.” This sustainable vision includes planting fruit-bearing trees, shrubs, and flowers to address food insecurity in our community while creating a thriving, green space for all.
Phil and his team have been hard at work revitalizing Art Park, and we’d love for you to join us! Volunteering at the park is a wonderful activity for seniors to stay active, keep their bodies in motion, and contribute to a meaningful community effort. Whether you have 15 minutes or an hour to spare, your help would make a real difference in creating a beautiful, welcoming space for everyone to enjoy.
We provide all the tools you’ll need, including stools and kneeling pads to ensure your comfort while you work. It’s a great way to connect with others, enjoy some fresh air, and be part of a transformation that benefits our entire community. Stop by and lend a hand—every bit of effort helps us bring Art Park’s vision to life!
This page will be updated with upcoming dates for volunteer opportunities during the warmer months. Stay tuned to find out when you can join us in helping transform Art Park!
